Other interesting notes about the Royalty:
The 1938 Queen was crowned "Queen Buckwheat." The name was changed to "Queen Ceres" for the 2nd Annual Preston County Buckwheat Festival in 1939, following the suggestion of Laura Jena Watson (Mrs. Lantz Craig), a teacher at Rowlesburg High School. Ceres was the name of the Roman Goddess of Grain.
The 1938 Queen Buckwheat and King Buckwheat, Louise Shaw and Scott Miller, married in 1946.
The 1965 Queen Ceres and King Buckwheat, Diana Parker and Dwight Sisler, married in 1966.
The 2002 King Buckwheat James Forman is the older brother of the 2005 King Buckwheat Christopher Forman
The 2008 King Buckwheat and the 2008 Queen Ceres are the first ever simultaneous twin King & Queen.
